Wow, I'm slacking!

So I haven't posted in a little while. Woops! Life has been busy; finishing college, finding a job, taking photos as much as I can. I've included something I've recently done, and cannot say that I'm 100% satisfied with. It was the wrong time of day to do photos, was 30* out, and Emma was not cooperating at all. I made the props though, so I am proud of those, lol. It's still cute (obviously, they're of my baby <3 ).
Hopefully I can get back into the swing of things with posting and showing photos and all of that :)

Throwback Thursday!

Throwback Thursday is consisting of two different photos; one of my niece, Kayla & another of my little sister, Keisha. These were also shot with my Canon Powershot sx40 hs, that I loved so much! Although both photos turned out how I had wanted, I really cannot wait to reshoot these with my T2i for a comparison. Neither picture looks horrible, but there is always room for improvement. :-)

In a few days I plan on buying a new lens (50mm I do believe), and a flash that isn't built in for my camera. Hoping that both of those do wonders for the engagement shoot I should be doing on Sunday (weather permitting). I'm really excited, but nervous- our weather has been CRAZY to say the least lately, and I'm hoping I get some
amazing shots from the session. *Crosses fingers*
I will definitely be uploading photos from the session for everyone to see, and hopefully leave their opinions.

Until tomorrow!

Happy Halloween!

It's Halloween, and I'm so excited to take my 3 year old trick or treating tonight. She's going as batgirl & is so stinkin' cute!
The photo below that is from our trip to the pumpkin patch a couple of weeks ago (still suiting the Halloween theme).  I may be bias, but you have to admit she's got the most gorgeous blue eyes ever! I shot the pumpkin patch photo with my Canon Powershot sx40 hs, which is the camera I've used for the past month before ordering my t2i. It taught me a lot about shooting in manual- and allowed me to change the shutter speeds and aperture. I would recommend it if you are terrified of jumping from point and shoot to DSLR, because there are some things you can learn with the sx40 hs to help ease you into the DSLR.

Anywho, I am declaring tomorrow 'Throwback Thursday' & will be posting photos I've taken, hoping to get some opinions. :-)

Happy Halloween Everyone!

Webpage love

Wanted to post MY WEBPAGE that I created for free at wix.com. I post some of my pictures there for others to see, although I'm not sure many are even seeing it. This is one of the reasons that I created a blog (that reason, plus I really like to blog and I like posting freebies (actions and presets for others to use)). Speaking of that you can find many different preset freebies HERE. I have used a few of them, and really am getting the hang of using lightroom. I most usually open a photo in lightroom, make some adjustments, then re-open it in photoshop elements and do whatever else I need to in there. It sounds like a lot, but editing is my favorite part- seeing the finished product.

For more freebies you can sign on to your pinterest (if you have one) and search free lightroom presets, or free photoshop actions, and you should come across a lot of them. Every preset and action I have has been free. If you do not have a pinterest, you can probably Google the same things and get results.

Adventure time!

So I have been letting photography and everything about it consume my life the last few weeks. I've always loved taking photos since being 12 years old, and now (at 25) I really wish that it was my profession. I've realized time has passed me by and I have had many years to learn all that I can about photography and haven't, so now I'm doing just that. I read everything I can, I take as many photos as I can, and recently purchased a Canon Rebel t2i. I LOVE my new camera, but do need to buy some more lenses.
With this blog entry I've included 2 photos I've taken with my new camera. CJ is the "model" in one of the photos- a friend of mine. The house is just an old run down house on the way to the lake. I love old houses, grungy looking places, and using them in photos. Hopefully I will only get better with my camera, and may get to make it my profession one day soon. We'll see. I'll keep you updated.
